Iowa Band Conductor's Forum 2018

The Iowa Band Conductor's Forum is a collaborative project between The University of Northern Iowa, University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and Drake University.

UNI Bands is proud to host the 5th annual Iowa Conductor’s Forum, a professional development workshop designed for band directors featuring clinicians Mike Golemo (ISU), Bob Meunier (Drake), Danny Galyen (UNI), and Mark Heidel (Iowa). The Forum is available to conductors and teachers at all levels including middle/junior high school, high school, and college/ university. Session topics will include rehearsal techniques, repertoire, conducting, and a conducting symposium for selected conductors. A special session on conducting stageworks from the pit will feature members of UNI Opera and the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra.

The event begins at 2:30pm on Friday, January 19 and concludes at 4:30pm on Saturday, January 20.

The Forum is offered at no cost to participants, but registration is required.

Those who wish to be considered for a conducting position for the Saturday Conducting Symposium should register by December 4, 2017 (**THIS DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO DECEMBER 18) and indicate conductor status on the registration form.

We ask all others to register no later than January 12, 2018.

The event will take place in the beautiful Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. The GBPAC is located at the corner of University Avenue and Ohio Street. There is an interactive campus map and a campus map pdf that you may find helpful. GBPAC is number 52 on the pdf and is also indicated on the interactive map. On Friday, we ask you to park in the B lot across University Avenue. On Saturday, participants may park in the metered lot just north of the GBPAC.

Please check-in at the registration table in the lobby of GBPAC between 2:30pm-3:00pm on Friday.

A complete schedule will be emailed to all participants prior to the event. The schedule will be based on the following:

The conference hotel is the Clarion Inn University Plaza on University Avenue in Cedar Falls. The Clarion will hold rooms until December 15, 2017. Room may still be available after this date. Please ask for the Iowa Band Conductor's Forum rate. 

If you do not wish to stay at the Clarion Inn there are a number of other excellent hotels in Cedar Falls that are close to campus.

Cedar Falls also has a number of outstanding restaurants to consider.
